DHAKA: Day two of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates saw wins for Australia, Bangladesh, India and Scotland.

Bangladesh`s Shadmam Islam became the tournament`s first centurion as he hit 126 not out to guide his side to a crushing 10-wicket win over Afghanistan.

Batting first, Afghanistan were bowled out for 212 in their 50 overs as Mossadek Hossain took three for 19.

Afghanistan then failed to take a wicket as Islam and opening partner Joyraz Shaikh (81 not out) guided their team home in 42.3 overs.

India won the day`s biggest clash when they beat Pakistan by 40 runs, Scotland hammered Papua New Guinea by six wickets, Australia powered to a 101-run win over Namibia and Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 10 wickets.

India were indebted to Sarfaraz Khan, who made 74 and Sanju Samson, who made 68, as they posted 262 for seven against Pakistan.

Pakistan matched India`a scoring rate for long periods in their run chase before falling away. Sami Aslam top scored with 64 before they were dismissed for 222, Deepak Hooda taking five for 41.

Scotland were the first team to win on the day as they comfortably overcame the challenge of Papua New Guinea.

Ross McLean and Chayank Gosain took three wickets apiece and Mark Watt two as PNG were dismissed for just 108 in 36.3 overs.

Scotland then reached their target in 29.4 overs. Zander Muir made 38 not out and Nick Farrar 26.

Matthew Short (96) just missed out on a three-figure score before Australia posted 242 for seven en route to a 101-run win over Namibia.

Ben McDermott made 45 and Jaron Morgan 33 as Australia put up a winning score before bowling Namibia out for 141.

Matthew Fotia returned three for 23.
