Bashundhara Kings forward Rakib Hossain was named the best footballer of the ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2023-24.
Rakib earned the title by scoring the highest 10 goals among local players in the league.
Abahani Ltd Dhaka’s Saint Vincentian forward Cornelius Stewart, who netted the highest 19 goals, received the highest scorer award, while Police Football Club goalkeeper Ahsan Habib was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the league.
The awards were presented during a prize-giving ceremony held at the BFF house on Wednesday. The event was graced by BFF Senior Vice President and Professional League Management Committee (PLMC) Chairman Imrul Hassan.
Police FC’s Romanian head coach Aristica Cioaba was awarded the best trainer of the league, and the fair play trophy went to Fortis FC. Additionally, five referees – Nasir Uddin, Saimon Hasan, Jalal Uddin, Anisur Rahman, and Bitu Raj Barua – jointly received the best referee award.
In the BFF U-18 Football League 2023-24, champions Abahani Ltd Dhaka and runners-up Fortis FC were presented with their respective trophies and medals. Abahani’s Yeasin Arafat Sifat stood out as both the best footballer and the highest scorer, having scored six goals.
Mohammedan Sporting Club claimed the fair play award in the U-18 league. Match commissioner Sabbir Salek Suvo, referee Sumon Bishwas, assistant referees Tarikul Islam and Mozaffar Hossain, and fourth referee Anisur Rahman were collectively honored with the best referee award for their contributions.
