Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Azaz today said that a ward-wise football tournament will begin across all 54 wards of DNCC starting next month. 

Each ward's winning team will receive a cash prize of Tk 1 lakh, totaling Tk 54 lakh in prize money.

Azaz shared the news while speaking as the chief guest at the Cricket Carnival 2025, held at Banani Chairmanbari ground, jointly organized by DNCC and Sports Arena.

He also revealed future plans for a ward-based cricket tournament and said DNCC aims to hold four sports tournaments annually. 

Special initiatives, including separate tournaments for women, will be introduced to ensure greater female participation in public spaces.

Azaz emphasized the role of sports and culture in resisting cultural fascism and expressed hope for building a fair and inclusive Dhaka through collective efforts.
