Bangladesh will seek to wrap up the one-day series against West Indies when the second ODI begins at 1:30 pm today (October 21) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, after a commanding win in the opener.
Buoyed by leg-spinner Rishad Hossain’s match-turning spell in the first game, the hosts are expected to double down on spin-friendly tactics.
Team management has hinted at strengthening the slow-bowling attack, with left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed drafted into the squad and in contention under rotation plans.
West Indies, beaten comprehensively by spin in the series opener, have also moved to adjust. Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein has been recalled to bolster the department, while left-arm seamer Symonds has been added. Pacers Shamar Joseph and Zedia Blades miss out through injury.
Bangladesh have kept their XI under wraps. “You’ll know after the toss — even I’m not fully sure yet,” spin coach Mushtaq Ahmed said, keeping selection plans deliberately opaque.
West Indies are downplaying surface variables. “Whatever the pitch, we have to adapt,” all-rounder Khary Pierre said, stressing a conditions-aware plan and execution.
