Bangladesh stand strong with records

DHAKA: With two tons of the openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes, Bangladesh have scored 303 for two at stumps on day-1 of their first innings of third Test against Zimbabwe in Chittagong Wednesday.

Mominul and Mahmudullah will resume the innings with 46 and 5 runs respectively on second day (Thursday) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Before returning to the pavilion, Tamim and Imrul made two records -- the highest opening partnership for Bangladesh and two tons for openers each.

In May, 2010, the same openers scored 185 runs, the previous record against England.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and decided to bat first in the mach of the Bashundhara Cement Test Series.

Bangladesh have entered into the game with two changes, opener Imrul Kayes replaced Shamsur Rahman and pacer Shafiul Islam replaced Shahadat Hossain.

The visiting Zimbabwe also have a change; quick bowler Shingi Masakadza and Richmond Mutumbami have replaced Tendai Chatara and Malcolm Waller, who was reported for a suspect action in the previous Test.

The home side, however, have already clinched a 2-0 series win in Dhaka and Khulna.
