Bangladesh dismiss South Africa for 248

DHAKA: Mustafizur Rahman bagged 4 for 37 on debut as South Africa were bowled out for 248 on the first day of the Chittagong Test on Tuesday.

Bangladesh with their disciplined bowling dismissed the visitors’ first innings in 83.4 overs in the first Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

In response, Bangladesh faced two overs and scored 7 for no loss at stumps on Day-1.

19-year old debutant Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets – Hashim Amla, JP Duminy, Q de Kock and Temba Bavuma.

Jubair Hossain took the second highest wickets by sending    VD Philander, SR Harmer and DW Steyn back to pavilion.

Besides, Elgar nicked off Taijul’s delivery while F du Plessis was pinned lbw by Shakib Al Hasan.

Mahmudullah took the wicket of Stiaan van Zyl in an innocuous arm-ball, sliding down leg in the first session. Stiaan sought to glance it away fine. Instead, the ball brushes the face and Litton took it, moving to his right.

Earlier in the day, South Africa captain Hashim Amla won the toss and choose to bat first in the match that started at 9:30am local time.

Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha believes that the series will be decided by how well the hosts handle South Africa’s ‘world-class pace attack’.

Bangladesh will seek to carry their limited-overs success into Tests and build solidity. They will have to contend with a South African side reinforced by the arrival of Dale Steyn, who has begun the four-finger countdown to get his 400 test wickets.
