'We've dominated this Test'- Kayes

DHAKA: Imrul Kayes has said that Bangladesh were disappointed at missing out on the fourth day's play, as he felt the hosts were in a better position than South Africa in the Chittagong Test.

Bangladesh were still ahead by 17 runs, with South Africa batting on 61 for no loss in the second innings when rain forced early stumps.

An entire day being wiped out all but ended South Africa's chances of forcing a result; the visitors have to compile a big total and take 10 wickets all in the space of 90 overs if they are to push for a win.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have played some of their best cricket in recent months, and made their highest ever Test score against South Africa in the first innings.

"Obviously, because Bangladesh played really good cricket as a team," said Imrul. "Overall, had there been a five-day game we would have had a positive result because we dominated this Test quite well. I think we are unlucky that it didn't happen. I think this is a positive side for Bangladesh cricket. The fact that we played consistently for a long time, I think that is a good sign for us and a big achievement for us."

But Imrul, who had also said before the Test that a draw would be an "achievement" for Bangladesh, remained realistic that a full day's play was unlikely even on Saturday.

Imrul added that if there was any uninterrupted cricket, a lot will depend on Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam, though the wicket will not be very responsive as it has been under cover since the end of the third day's play.

"It depends on tomorrow's weather. If it is like today, it will be impossible to get a result. We hope that we can play tomorrow and hopefully we can bowl them out quickly. And then bat well. All depends on the weather.

"On Friday, the pitch was completely covered, normally the wicket may become a bit damp, because if the cover is not lifted, then the wicket does not behave normally. I think batting will be a little difficult and our spinners will get help. I think if Shakib, Taijul can bowl well then we will be able to bowl them out quickly, provided they can bowl well."
