DHAKA: Bangladesh have scored 125-run losing three wickets in the first innings of the second test against visiting South Africa at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur in city on Thursday.

Earlier, dashing opener Tamim Iqbal returned to pavilion in the fifth over of the innings as Tigers started their innings after Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bat first in the match that started at 9:30am local time.

He scored only 6-run. Dale Steyn took the wicket and on the way entered the elite club of 400-wicket takers in Test Cricket.

Steyn became the second South African to get to the landmark, after Shaun Pollock. Joint second-fastest in terms of Test matches, alongside New Zealand’s Richard Hadlee and behind Muttiah Muralitharan from Sri Lanka, to the mark, and fastest in terms of balls.

Later, in the second session, Imrul Kayes and Mominul Haque also returned to the pavilion scoring 30 and 40 runs respectively, after steadying the innings from the initial loss of Tamim.

Currently, dependable Mahmudullah and captain Mushfiqur Rahim area on the crease with 20 and 18 runs respectively.

Bangladesh have shored up their batting, with Nasir Hossain replacing Taijul Islam while South Africa have a change behind the sticks, with Dane Vilas making his debut, replacing Quinton de Kock.
