DHAKA: Australia's tour of Bangladesh is set to be called off on Thursday. Cricket Australia (CA) is going to officially announce the two-Test series has been abandoned because of security concerns.

When contacted, Cricket Australia confirmed the matter to banglanews through an e-mail message.

In the message, the CA, CEOs Office wrote, "Sorry, we have no great news for you. Cricket Australia is going to officially announce about the cancellation of the cricket tour to Bangladesh.”

Saleque Sufi, energy expert Bangladeshi expatriate in Australia and also cricket analyst, contacted with Cricket Australia, on behalf of banglanews.

The e-mail also said, “Safety of our players and staff is our priority. Please convey our regrets to Bangladeshi Cricket Community.”

Australia's Test squad have already returned to state ranks for training and are now expected to feature in the domestic one-day tournament starting Monday in Sydney.
