DHAKA: Mirpur Model Thana police detained wife of cricketer Shahadat Hossain in a case filed on allegation of ‘torturing housemaid’.
Acting of tip off, a team of police picked Jesmin Jahan Nitya from city’s Malibagh area on Saturday midnight.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mirpur zone deputy commissioner Kaiyumuzzaman Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Thana sources said another accused Shahadat, however, is still absconding. Police are trying their best to trace the whereabouts of him and arrest him.

Tortured housemaid Happy is undergoing treatment at One Stop Crisis Center of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Five-member medical team has been formed for her treatment, said sources concerned.

On September 7, Shahadat and his wife have been sued for torturing their house help, Mahfuza Akter Happy, who, earlier, was rescued injured by police from city’s Pallabi area.
