DHAKA: Visiting Bangladesh scored 289-run losing all the wickets in their first innings on the first day of the second test against New Zealand at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Friday (January 20).

Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan and Nurul Hasan scored 86, 59 and 47 runs respectively.

Tim Southee picked up five wickets while Trent Boult took four and Neil Wagner took one wicket.

Earlier in the day, Kiwi captain Kane Williamson won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first.

Bangladesh are missing the services of regular captain Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes due to their injuries that they picked up while playing the first test.

New Zealand are leading the two-match series by 1-0.
