DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed former England batsman Steve Rhodes as the new coach of the national cricket team.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan made the formal announcement at his office on Thursday afternoon (June 7).
The 54-year-old Rhodes has signed a two-year contract and took responsibility of the team Tigers till the T20 World Cup in 2020.
The last Bangladesh cricket team coach Chandika Hathurusingha left eight months ago and the post have been vacant since then.
Steve Rhodes, as a player, represented England in 11 Tests and 9 ODIs. Even though this is his first time leading a national team, he already made a name in leading towards success. He is a former coach of county side Worchester. BCB believes his experience will be valuable for tigers in the 2019 World Cup.
