DHAKA: Bangladesh is sending a117-athlete contingent to the Asian Games, to be held from August 18 to September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
The contingent comprises 86 men and 31 women athletes.
The 14 disciplines where Bangladesh will take part in are: Football, Kabaddi, Hockey, Shooting, Aquatics – Swimming, Athletics, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Basketball, Bridge, Golf, Beach Volleyball, Rowing and Archery.
Weightlifter Mabia Akter Simanta will act as the flag-bearer of Bangladesh.
The eighteenth edition of the Asian Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes from across the continent and offshore islands, gets under way Saturday (August 18) in Indonesia for two weeks of competition in 40 sports ranging from the mainstream to the esoteric.
Athletes from 45 countries and regions will vie in 465 events including non-Olympic disciplines such as kabaddi, sepak takraw and wushu.
