DHAKA: St Kitts & Nevis Patriots 70/3 (Thomas 38*, Hodge 1/1) beat St Lucia Stars 69 (Qais Ahmad 24, Cottrell 3/14, Lamichhane 2/13, Mahmudullah 2/20) by seven wickets with 74 balls remaining

Bangladeshi allrounder Mahmudullah Riyad has taken a two-wicket haul as his team St Kitts & Nevis Patriots make the hapless Stars suffer the crushing defeat in Caribbean Premier League.

Stars crashed to the defeat after collapsing to 69 all out, inside 13 overs, in the 13th match of the CPL 2018, at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia on Tuesday night.

Only two players got to double figures – Warner (14) and Qais Ahmad (24), with lack of partnerships hurting Stars during the course of the proceedings. Mahmudullah and Nepal legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane shared four between them.

Chasing 70 for victory, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots reached the target for the loss of three wickets in 7.4 overs.

Evin Lewis and Brandon King lost their wickets to Mitchell McClenaghan and Kavem Hodge, but Devon Thomas remained unbeaten on 38 of 21 with five boundaries and a six to guide St Kitts home.

The abysmal performance with the bat saw St Lucia Stars plummet to their fifth loss of this year’s CPL season.

However, the win now places St Kitts & Nevis Patriots fourth on the standings, elevating their net run-rate to 0.86.
