CHITTAGONG: Bangladesh national team new batting inclusion Fazle Rabbi was dismissed for a duck in his debutant against visiting Zimbabwe in Mirpur.
In the next match, he scored the same.
As the low performance has started fading Fazle Rabbi with heaps of criticism, Mashrafe has come to his rescue seeking more chance for the newcomer.
“In fact, Fazle Rabbi is very unlucky. Happening such to a batsman is usual. ‘I don’t mind’, if he would be given another chance,” said Mashrafe.
Mashrafe was talking to the reporters at the lobby of Radisson Blu Bay View hotel in Chittagong, Thursday (Oct 25) noon.
“I don’t support to drop someone after giving him the chance and observing for only one to two matches,” he added.
“What has happened to Rabbi would have been happened to me too. It seems to me that he deserves one more chance. The rests are the concern of the selectors and team management” he said further.
However 30-year-old Fazle Rabbi was named in the squad upon his consecutive better performance in the domestic cricket and as Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the tournament against the Zimbabweans.
