DHAKA:  Captain Mashrafe Mortaza’s four-wicket haul helped Rangpur Riders secure the second win in the BPL season at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday (Jan 8).

Riders beat Comilla Victorians by nine wickets with 48 balls remaining.

Victorians lost all wickets to score only 63 when Riders had sent them to bat first winning the toss. Shahid Afridi took the highest 25 runs.

Mashrafe was adjudged Player of the match for bagging four wickets. Besides, Nazmul Islam and Shafiul Islam took three and two wickets respectively.

In response to the target, Riders scored 67 for one as Mehedi Maruf and Rilee Rossouw took 36 and 20 runs respectively.

During presentation, Mashrafe Mortaza said: “It was a big match. We had to keep the momentum going. It was a good toss to win. In Mirpur you cannot predict the wicket. That's how we approached the decision. The bowlers did well. Taking wickets you need some luck. I think was a bit lucky. All the bowlers put it in the right areas and then I got the wickets. It was a team effort. That's how it is in T20 cricket. Very important to get momentum. The way we've been in the ground the last two matches has been very good. Hopefully it'll carry on, many matches coming up.”
