DHAKA: Sri Lanka have set 339-run target for West Indies in the 39th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on Monday (July 1).
WIA Fernando (104 off 103 with 9 boundaries and 2 sixes) and MDKJ Perera (64 off 51 with 8 boundaries) power Sri Lanka to post the massive total 338 in their 50 overs.
For West Indies, JO Holder picked two wickets while SS Cottrell, O Thomas and FA Allen one wicket each.
Earlier, Windies skipper Jason Holder has won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first.
After winning the toss, Holder says. "Pretty good wicket.. Fresh wicket. We have to tighten up on. Have our pride to play for. Still aiming the perfect game. Told the batters to give yourself a fair chance to succeed."
"Would've liked to bowl too….We couldn't pass 250 often and no hundreds, those are the keys for our middle- and top-order. After the World Cup, we have to sit down and discuss what the future plans are. For now, we are focusing on World Cup," says Karunaratne.
