Bangladesh failed to reach the SAFF Championship final in their do-or-die match against Nepal in Male Wednesday, which ended 1-1 draw.
Thanks to an eighth minute strike from Suman Reza, Bangladesh were leading 1-0 80 minutes till goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico handled an underhit Sohel Rana backpass outside the box and got a straight red card.
Bangladesh's dream of Saff Championship final was shattered after Nepal had equalized a few minutes later from a controversial penalty. The referee pointed to the spot after a Nepal striker was brought down inside the box just minutes before the end of the regulation time. Replay, however, showed that there was very minimal touch on the Nepal player.
Oscar Bruzon's team finished fourth with five points from four matches, while Nepal advanced to the final after ending their round robin league campaign with seven points from four games.
The other finalist will be decided in the game between Maldives and India, who have six and five points respectively playing three matches each.
