South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in a Super 12 fixture of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. 

Invited to bat by South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma, Nissanka top-scored for Sri Lanka with a 57-ball 72. He hit six boundaries and three sixes. 

For South Africa, left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi (3/17) and Dwaine Pretorius (3/17) took three wickets each while Anrich Nortje accounted for two SL batters.

Opener Pathum Nissanka struck a fine half-century (72) before South Africa bowled out Sri Lanka. 

Chasing the target of 143, South Africa won the game by one ball to spare, thanks a to a late flourish from David Miller and Kagiso Rabada.

South Africa started rather slowly. Dushmantha Chameera's fierce spell produced two important wickets for them, including the wicket of dangerous Quinton De Kock.
