Australia Added Another Feather In The Crown  ...

Final Match: Australia VS New Zealand Played at Dubai Cricket Ground, UAE on 14 November 2021.
Australia 173/2 in 18.5 Overs (Mitchell Marsh 77*, David Warner 53,Glen Maxwell 28* , Trent Boult 2/18 )
New Zealand 172/4  (Kane Williamson 85 , Martin Gutill 28, Glen Philips 18 , Josh Hazelwood 3/16) Australia Won The Match by 8 Wickets. Player of The Match: Mitchell Marsh Player of The Tournament: David Warner

Australia added yet another feather in its cricket crown. Aussie rule over black caps extended as the land of Kangaroos prevailed over the country of kiwis. Australia beat New Zealand by 8 wickets winning the ICC Men’s T20 championship for the first time. Batting first New Zealand posted a competitive score of 172/4 . Australia cruised past the targets scoring 173/2 with 7 balls to spare.

Yellow wave gulped the Tasman sea once more. New Zealand could not win any cricket match against Australia at the knock out stage. Other nations would have celebrated the occasion with great festivity. But it would be business as usual in Australia. It would be simply a new feather added to its crown.

Australia to Cricket is what Brazil to Soccer.   Wining is their habit. Once they get the sniff they finish it clinically. The men in green and gold were rank outsiders in ICC Men’s T20 world Cup 2021. No cricket writer , analyst gave them any rating for even reaching the semifinals. Talks of England, India , West Indies and New Zealand were heard loudly and clearly. At the pretournament stage they were looking like a team struggling to get to their top gear. They limped into the knock out stage. But once in the semifinal their mission got usual momentum and their rule over Tasman neighbor continued as they unleash their explosive best in sweeping them away with a massive 8 wickets win.

Australia Is A Cricket Nation: Winning top honor in Cricket for Australia is like winning top honor in Soccer in Brazil. But for its very nature T20 championship for Australia was missing. But one feature  has been reestablished in this World Cup that Australia changes gear at business session . Given the slightest of opportunities they grab it with both hands. Warner was so much out of form in the recent past that he was benched by his IPL franchise. Maxwell was looking terribly out of form. Mitch Marsh was trolled in social media .Yet all three blossomed and they led Australia in winning the trophy. Off Course Hazelwood, Zampa and Flinch also made useful contributions. A great win for Australia .Their rule in the shortest version of cricket has commenced. Australia with a depleted team lost series against West Indies and was blown out by Bangladesh.

Final Match:
In an otherwise one sided final new record of the fastest T20 half century was recorded by Kanel Williamson and in no time was broken by Mitchell Marsh .Kane Williamsons brilliant endeavor 85 in 48 deliveries went in vain. But Mitchell Marsh unbeaten 77 off 50 led Aussies taking away the trophy. Rest of Kiwis batting in the final scored 78 in 73 deliveries. The only other notable scorer was Martin Guptill scoring 28 of 35 deliveries. Josh Hazelwood maintained his reputation of new McGrath in the team taking 3 /16. 172/4 against resurging Australia was at least 25 runs to less.

Australia in response lost Flinch early to Boult. Back in his brilliant best Warner scored a 53 in 38 deliveries. But the player of the final match Mitchell Marsh piloted the ship scoring unbeaten 77 in 50 deliveries. The pair put together match winning 78 runs run 73 deliveries. The icing on the cake was Marsh –Maxwell unfinished 3rd wicket partnership of 66 in 6.3 overs. Maxi struck unbeaten 28 in 18 balls. Marsh was player of final and Warner was the player of the tournament.

Australia added a new page of gold in their great cricket history. They would host T20 World Cup 2022 as the champions of the world. May termed this as an Appetizer For The Ensuing Ashes series .
