DHAKA: Shamsul Hoque Khan School & College, Demra secured the top position in all education boards in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations this year.
Among its 778 examinees passed, 740 of them obtained GPA-5, the highest grade of passing.
Previous year’s top ranked Rajuk Uttara Model School and College ranked number- two this year with 496 out of 544 examinees obtaining GPA-5.
Matijheel Ideal School and College secured the third place with 1,416 out of its 1,578 students passing with the highest grade.
Viqarunnisa Noon School grabbed the fourth place with 1,290 out of its 1,501 students obtaining GPA-5.
In the press conference, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that for the last time, the ministry has published the list of top schools in SSC results. From now on, the ministry will not make any list of top ranked schools, said sources concerned.
The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were published on Saturday morning with overall pass percentage of of 87.04 per, which is 4.3 percent lower than that of last year.
A total of 1,42,276 students had secured GPA-5.
Among the general boards, Rajshahi board topped the list in pass percentage, showing 94.07 percent success. Comilla posted 84.22 percent pass, Chittagong 82.77, Dinajpur 85.05, Barisal 84.37, Jessore 84.02 and Sylhet board posted 81.82.
Madaradsa board showed 90.02 percent pass while Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has 83.01 percent pass rate.
