RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: A professor of Rajshahi University (RU) was killed and his son injured in a road accident in Natore rail crossing area on Dhaka-Natore highway on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Dr AYKM Jahangir, professor of Arabic literature of the university.

Arabic department chairman Professor Abdus Salam Mia told banglanews that Professor Jahangir along with his son was coming by a motorcycle to Rajshahi University from their village home in Sirajganj.

A speedy covered-van knocked them from behind in Chalkboidyanath area of Natore around 9:00am, leaving them injured. Later, they were taken to Natore Sadar Hospital.

Then, Professor Jahangir died on way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH). The body has taken to RMCH morgue around 10:00am.

The injured is undergoing treatment at the hospital, said RMCH sources.
