DHAKA: Assailants hacked a young man to death in the city’s Pallabi area early Sunday, after he had gone out of home reportedly following a phone call from some friends.

The deceased was identified as Belal Sheikh, 25, son of late Rajab Ali Sheikh.

Police said local people found Belal in Balurmath area at about 2:45am in an unconscious state. They rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

“The body bore a number of injury marks,” said the physician.

Victim’s brother-in-law, Rashedul Islam, said, “Belal went out of home on a phone call made by his friends Khokon, Kalipada and Debu on Saturday night. But, he didn’t return home.”

Rashedul suspected the killing might have been committed following a conflict with his friends over ‘jhut’ business.

SI Enamul Haque of Pallabi thana said preparation for filing a case was on.
