DHAKA: Members of Police and Ansar Tuesday assaulted banglanews chief photo correspondent Nazmul Hasan while he was discharging his duty in capital’s Paltan area.

Eyewitnesses said a member of Ansar was assaulting an old bus-driver. Nazmul had been taking photos of the incident. As nazmul had protested, Ansar man Shafiqul islam charged and hit him with a stick. Later, three members of police locked up Nazmul in Paltan police box around 11pm.

On information, a number of journalists rushed to the spot and started protesting the assault of the law enforcers on the journalist, they added.

However, Nazmul was released amid the protest.

Journalists also withdrew their demonstration as the authority had assured them of taking action against members of law enforcers involved.
