A delegation of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces (Ansar-VDP) officials visited East West Media Group Limited, a media-focused organization of the Bashundhara Group, as part of the educational tour.
A delegation of 36 people led by Director Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury and Assistant Director Roksana Begum of the 38th BCS course of Ansar-VDP visited the conference room of East West Media Group today on Wednesday, reports Kaler Kantha.
Editor-in-Chief of Kaler Kantha and director of East West Media Group fiction writer Imdadul Haque Milan, editor of Daily Sun Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Kaler Kantho editor Shahed Muhammad Ali, executive editor of News 24 Rahul Raha and editor of banglanews24.com Jewel Mazhar were present.
They answered various questions of Ansar-VDP officials. In response to a question, Daily Sun's editor Enamul Haque Chowdhury said, "The job of journalists is to find news. They are so busy. But at various times government officials and employees try to bypass it. This results in some complications. Due to the complexity that creates obstacles in the publication of objective news."
Rahul Raha, executive editor of News twenty-four, said, 'Now the mainstream media is facing a threat from social media. There is so much negativity going on in social media, people can't get out of it. Negative news but not negative news, its purpose is to create positive state, society, family. This is the main point of view of mass media. We are bringing positive news and its impact has already started to fall.”
Banglanews editor Jewel Mazhar said, 'Newspaper goes to people, conveys news to people and highlights the inconsistencies and irregularities of the society. The main job of the mainstream media is to bring out the real news from the clutter.'
At the end of the question and answer session, Chief Editor of Kaler Kantho Imdadul Haque Milan said, "36 officials of Ansar-VDP came here and exchanged views with us. They had questions like how newspapers are published, how we do our jobs. We have tried to answer.
In such meetings, we benefited from knowing what senior officers of the force thought about the media. Besides, they also got to know the activities of the newspapers. The discussion on why there is more negative news, why we want positive news, has been very interesting. I think we have benefited."
Director of 38th BCS course of Ansar-VDP Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury said, "We have come to East West Media Group as part of an educational tour with 36 officers of 38th BCS. We all know that this institution has a lot of media acceptance.
Because they are constantly bringing out three top tier newspapers, who always publish objective news. This is why we bring our officials here. We always have good communication with the media. We want East West Media Group to maintain the same trend in the future as it is now.'
At the end of the exchange of views, Imdadul Haque Milon on behalf of East West Media Group greeted the arriving delegation with flowers and accepted mementos and toured various institutions.
