6 killed in Cox’s Bazar road crash

COX’S BAZAR: Six people were killed and 23 others injured in a road accident in Ukhia Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ali Ahmad, 45, Abul Bashor, 35, Belal Hossain, 35, Abdus Salam, 21, Shaheedul Amin, 25, and Nurul Haque, 37 of residents of Kutupalang Rohingya camp.

Witnesses said a passenger Jeep collided head-on with another jeep in Ukhia Degree College area of the upazila at around 8:30 am, leaving five people dead on the spot and 24 others injured.

Later, a man succumbed to his injuries at hospital.
 
The condition of five others is critical, hospital sources said.
Nine of the injured were admitted to MSF Hospital while six at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital and rests at Upazila Health Complex.

Ukhia police Station officer-in-Charge Gias Uddin Mia confirmed the matter to banglanews.
