At least five persons sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a building in Science Lab area of the capital on Sunday (March 5) morning.

The incident took place at around 10:50am on the third floor of the building. Some part of the building collapsed due to the explosion.

The identities of the injured and the reason behind the explosion could not be known immediately.

New Market Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shahabul Gani Shabu confirmed the matter. 

Four units of firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control, he said.
