At least three people were killed and five others injured in an explosion at a building in Science Lab area of the capital on Sunday (March 5) morning.

The deceased were identified as Shafikuzzaman, Abdul Mannan and Tusar. 

Of the injured, three were identified as Khairul, Hannan and Payel. 

Dhanmondi police station sub-inspector Azizul Haque confirmed the matter.

The incident took place at around 10:50am on the third floor of the building. Some parts of the building collapsed due to the explosion.

Shahjahan Sikder, officer (media cell) at Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence said four units of firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control.
