At least six people were killed when a bus hits a Tamtam (a motorized vehicle) at Shankarpasha of Pirojpur's Sadar upazila on Friday (Mar 18).
The deceased were identified as Shahin Mallik, 18, Yeasin Mina, 22, Md. Badsha, 17, Shahin Molla, 20, Shabbir Hossain, 21, and Monirul Zaman, 55.
Locals said some 18 people were going to Bhandaria area of the district to provide catering service at a wedding program by Tamtam from Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district. When they came near the Shankarpasha area, a wheel of the vehicle blasted and collided with a bus coming from the opposite direction, leaving two dead on the spot.
The injured were rushed to the nearby hospital where doctor declared another dead, said locals.
Besides, some critically injured people were referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital where three more succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
AZM Masuduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Pirojpur Sadar Police Station confirmed the matter.
Police recovered bodies and seized the bus and vehicle, the OC said, adding legal actions are under process in this regard.
