The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in different operations in the last 24 hours till 6 am Thursday (March 23) arrested 56 persons for their alleged involvement in selling and consuming drugs.

Being informed, the DMP’s police and detective units conducted the anti-drug campaign in the city’s various areas, seizing drugs and arresting drug sellers and abusers, said a DMP statement today.

They seized 866 pieces of Yaba tablets, 20gm 66 puria of heroin, 105.4kg hemp, 510 litre local wine, 15 pieces of injectable drugs, 200 pieces of tapentadol tablet and 45 bottles of phensedyl, from their possessions, the statement said. 

According to the statement, a total of 40 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
