A man and his wife were killed as their engine-run van collided with a pickup van in Jhenidah's Kaliganj upazila on Tuesday (March 28) morning.

Three more persons were also injured in the accident that took place at Mobarakgaj around 6am.

The deceased were identified as Saddar Hossain, and his wife Parvin Akter, residents of Bishoykhali village.

According to Kaliganj Police Station OC Abdur Rahim Mollah confirmed the matter.

He said Saddar Hossain and his family heading towards Jashore to visit a doctor with his ill daughter. On the way, a fish-laden pickup van coming form opposite direction hit their engine-run van, leaving the couple dead and three others injured.

The injured Saddar's daughter Shathi Khatun, his grandson and van driver Karim were undergoing treatment at Upazila Health Complex.
