Bashundhara Group, the country's largest business conglomerate, in association with Rongdhanu Group distributed rice among 10,000 poor families in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj in the fifth phase on the occasion of Holy Ramadan.

The rice was distributed at Kendua area of Kanchan Municipality and Shimulia area of Rupganj Union on Saturday.

Both the events were presided over by Rupganj Upazila Awami League Vice President Abul Bashar Tuku while Chairman of Upazila Parishad and General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Alhaj Shahjahan Bhuiyan attended as the chief guest.

Kanchan Municipality Mayor Alhaj Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, Upazila Parishad vice-chairman Shahriar Panna Sohel, Rupganj Union Parishad Chairman Alhaj Salauddin Bhuiyan, and former Chairman Abu Hossain Bhuiyan Ranu, among others, were present.

Chairman of Rupganj Upazila Parishad Shajahan Bhuiyan said Bashundhara Group and Rongdhanu Group are always helping the people of Rupganj with food, clothes and money. In the fifth phase, rice has been distributed among 10,000 people in a municipality and a union. The Groups will distribute food assistance to 25,000 families till 10th Ramadan in seven unions and two municipalities of the upazila.

Expressing gratitude for rice, the recipients prayed for the wellbeing of the Bashundhara Group and Rongdhanu Group Chairmen.
