Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is monitoring the massive fire that broke out in Bangabazar and also coordinating the overall activities including fire control.

The Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary, Hasan Zahid Tushar confirmed the matter to the media today. 

Earlier today, the fire that broke out at the Bangabazar around 6:10am, was brought under control at 12:36pm.

A total 48 units of fire service worked about 6 and a half hours tirelessly to bring the fire under control.

Earlier, the fire broke out in Bangabazar at 6:10 am. Later, the fire spread to nearby four other markets.

The cause of fire and the extent of damages could not be ascertained immediately.
