With the theme "Scouting Korbo, Smart Bangladesh Gorbo', Bangladesh Scouts Day is being observed today (April 8).

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday issued separate messages greeting all members of Scouts on the eve of the day.

The President, in his message, said the scouting is an international, voluntary, non-political and educational movement. 

Scouting is a supplementary practical education system in addition to regular education, the head of the state added.

The main goal of scouting is to develop the youth of the country as self-reliant, well-mannered and ideal citizens by regular training and reflecting it in personal life, Hamid said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said Bangladesh Scouts started its activities in independent Bangladesh on April 8, 1972 with the full cooperation of the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The premier lauded the initiative to celebrate this day as 'Bangladesh Scout Day'.

Bangabandhu's dream was to build a non-communal, happy, prosperous and exploitation-free golden Bangladesh, she said, adding that scouts have always been helping to realize the dream of Father of the Nation.

Both the president and the premier wished the overall success of Bangladesh Scouts Day.
