Police arrested two fake journalists on charges of extortion and fraud in Jamalpur.

The two were identified as Wahid Khan Arif, 40, and Masud Rana, 28.

Police Superintendent Nashir Uddin disclosed the matter in a press briefing on Thursday (April 9) at 2 pm in the conference room of Jamalpur Police Superintendent's office.

He said police arrested Arif and Manik Mia alias Masud while extorting and cheating at Narundi Union Land Office of Sadar Upazila on Wednesday afternoon. 

Fake ID cards of various newspapers and extortion cash were recovered from them, he said.

A case of extortion and fraud has been lodged against them at Jamalpur Sadar police station on Thursday morning, he said, adding they have been handed over to the court.
