14 shops robbed in Manikganj city

At least 14 shops located on the main road of Manikganj city were allegedly robbed Thursday (April 27) noon.

A group of thieves have taken cash and goods from several shops. In each case, the group of thieves broke into the store in the same manner.

According to information, Sabuj Pharmacy, City Drugs, Desh Library and Samsung Mobile shops opposite the high school gate on the main road of Manikganj, Shahid Rafiq Road, were allegedly robbed. Tk15,000 from Sabuj Pharmacy, Tk3,000 from Desh Library and Tk3,000 from City Drugs were stolen. Robbers tried to break the shutter of the Samsung Mobile store but could not enter.

Besides, Tk15,000 was stolen from Amin Pharmacy in Paur Market, 100 yards away from the high school gate. An attempt has been made to break the shutter of a shop named Maer Doa.

On the other hand, Tk2,000 were lost from the Ma General Store on Gangadharpatti Street in front of Devendra College, several packets of cigarettes and mobile cards from Khan Variety Store and a several packets of cigarettes along with mobile cards from a shop named Piash.

Besides, a gang of thieves took away cash, mobile cards and lakhs of taka. Besides, attempts have been made to break the shutters of three more shops in Bangram area of the municipal area. However, there was no damage done as the group of thieves could not enter the shop.

Manikganj Sadar police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Abdur Rauf Sarkar confirmed the matter. 

He said that police were sent immediately after learning about the incident. Attempts are being made to arrest those involved in the incident.
