Three people, including two children, were killed and at least seven injured after a pickup van hit a battery-run van in Jhenidah's Kotchandpur upazila on Thursday (May 4).

The accident happened around 12 noon.

The deceased were identified as Khukumoni Khatun, 7, daughter of Shahin of Balakanda village of Kaliganj, one-and-a-half month old Rafan Hossain, son of Rubel Hossain of Elangi village of Kotchandpur and Soleman Hossain, 60, of Shahpur Ghighati area in Kaliganj.

Kotchandpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moin Uddin confirmed the matter.

He said being informed, police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. 

Seven people were injured in this incident, he said, adding they were admitted to Kotchandpur Upazila Health Complex and a hospital in Jessore.
