The fourteenth death anniversary of eminent nuclear scientist with international repute and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Dr MA Wazed Miah (Sudha Miah) today.
The nuclear scientist, who has a colorful working life experience, was born on February 16, 1942 in a respectable Muslim family of Laldighee Fatehpur village in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.
He died on May 9, 2009.
Dr Wazed Foundation and family members of Dr Wazed will organise a memorial discussion at ‘Joy Sadan’ premises in village Laldighee Fatehpur.
Dr Wazed was the youngest among four sons and three daughters of his late father Abdul Quader Miah and late mother Moyzunnesa.
During his student life, he was obtained the third place in First Division in his graduation in Physics discipline at Dhaka University in 1961 and became first in his post-graduation there in 1962.
Wazed earned his PhD degree from Durham University, UK in 1967 and joined the then Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in 1965. He also served as the chairman of the Commission.
He was involved with the politics of Chhatra League and was elected VP of Fazlul Haque Hall Student Union in 1961.
Wazed married the incumbent premier on Sheikh Hasina in 1967 and has a number of books on physics and politics to his credit.
They have a son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and a daughter Saima Wazed Putul.
Apart from his publications on scientific research and nuclear science, Dr. Wazed also authored a number of books on social and political issues, including one on the memories of Bangabandhu.
