A top Arsa leader was arrested with firearms during a raid in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya camp early Wednesday.

Deceased Hafez Jubayer, 32, was commander of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa).

APBN-8 Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) Mohammad Amir Zafar confirmed the matter on Wednesday (May 10) at noon.

He said APBn team conducted a raid at the camp and detained Jubayer around 4 am from Rohingya camp no 19, Block-A/14.

Four local shutter guns, 32 rounds of bullet, two walkie talkies, and a mobile charger were recovered from his possession, he said.

In primary interrogation, Jubayer confessed that he trained in Myanmar's deep forest for six months. He came to visit family at the camp, he added.
