The High Court (HC) has set Monday (May 14) for bail hearing date of Evaly's CEO Mohammad Rassel in the Digital Security Act case.
The High Court bench comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam passed the order after hearing the bail application.
Senior Advocate Ahsanul Karim heard the petition in court.
On September 30, 2021, Evaly's customer Mohammad Alamgir Hossain filed the case at Badda police station accusing Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasreen and unknown 15 to 20 people as plaintiffs.
According to case statement, from January to September 2020, the complainant sent Tk28 lakh through Bikash and Cash to purchase electronic products from Evely. Customers should receive the product from Evaly within 45 days of placing the order. But even after seven months, he did not get it.
On September 16, 2022, police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sub-Inspector (SI) Pradeep Kumar Das, also the investigating officer of the case, filed a charge sheet against the couple in the court.
Later, on March 2, the court formed a complaint against Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasreen in a case filed under the Digital Security Act. Dhaka Cyber Tribunal judge AKM Zulfikar Hayat gave this order.
On September 16, 2021, RAB raided a flat in Dhaka's Mohammadpur and arrested the couple. Later, they were arrested in cases filed in different police stations on charges of fraud.
