President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of renowned actor, parliament member and valiant freedom fighter Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooque).

In a message of condolence, the President prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, Farooque breathed his last at Mount Elizabeth Hospital while undergoing treatment around 8:30am.

According to his relatives, Farooque was under treatment in the hospital for two years. His body will be brought to Dhaka on Tuesday morning.
