The government has sent names of Bangladeshi expatriates engaged in propelling "propaganda against the country", to its missions abroad for further steps.
Ministry of Home Affairs prepared the list which was sent to the missions to curb the offenders.
The development was disclosed by officials concerned at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
Placing a nine-point progress report before the committee, the foreign ministry said the missions abroad are protesting and bringing incidents of anti-state propaganda to the notice of the host countries.
Details of the list prepared by the home ministry could not be known yet.
The missions abroad have been instructed to monitor the activities of the listed persons or organisations and inform the authorities of any social media posts, content, news, or information that are harmful and defamatory to the government or against Bangladesh's interests.
Bangladesh ambassadors and high commissioners in those countries have also been directed to pursue the governments of the host countries to bring the rumour-mongers to book.
