Three women were killed and at least 10 injured after a truck collided head-on with a pickup van in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj early Friday.

The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway's Mouchak area around 1am.

The deceased were Manjila Begum, 45, Tanzila Begum, 35, and Shahinur Begum, 45. All of them were the residents of Gabindapur village.

Shaistaganj Highway Police Station OC Mainul Islam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

A pickup van, carrying 19 passengers from Gabindapur village, was going towards Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar Sharif in Sylhet. When the vehicle reached Bahubal, it collided head-on with a stone-laden truck, leaving three women dead on the spot and 10 others injured.

The injured were admitted to different hospitals including Upazila Health Complex, Sadr Adhunik Hospital and Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

The vehicles were seized, the OC said, adding legal steps were being taken in this connection.
