A college student was killed after a bus hit him at Hatirjheel in the capital on Thursday (July 13).

The deceased Jahid Hasan, 24, was a student in the second year of China's North Electric Power University. 

The incident happened at 4 pm at Rampura Bridge when Jahid and his brother were going to Gulshan's police plaza.

Later, Jahid was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Jahid dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Hatirjheel Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Sharmin Akhtar Eva confirmed the matter.

The bus has been seized and the driver was arrested, she said.
