DHAKA: Oscar Fernández Taranco, UN assistant secretary general for political affairs, held an one and half an hour-long meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed on Sunday morning.

The meeting started at a11:05am and continued till 12:27pm.

Earlier, Taranco, also special ambassador of UN secretary General Ban-ki-Moon, along with a four-member team entered the election commission secretariat at around 10:55am.

Election Commission Secretary Dr Mohammad Sadiq and UN Resident Coordinator in Dhaka Neal Walker were present kin the meeting.

The upcoming parliamentary election and stand of political parties were discussed in the meting.

Earlier, the UN envoy had an hour-long meeting with Jatiya Party Chairmam HM Ershad at his Baridhara residence started at 9:30am.
