Former Basic Bank chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu filed a petition with the High Court seeking bail in 58 corruption cases.
He filed the petition with concerned section of the HC for bail in so many cases involving embezzlement of money and other corruptions on Tuesday.
Anti-Corruption Commission lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan confirmed the update.
Earlier, on June 15, the court imposed restriction on Abdul Hye Bacchu’s overseas trip. ACC also sent a letter of Detective Branch of Police seeking necessary step to prevent Bacchu from going abroad.
Abdul Hye Bacchu along with others allegedly embezzled thousand crore taka through clandestine loans.
On June 12, 2023, ACC approved charge-sheet against Bacchu in all the cases.
According to case dossier, 46 bank officials and 101 clients are accused in these cases involving embezzlement of Tk 22.65 billion from the bank.
