NEW YORK: Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations is preparing a confidential report over his Bangladesh tour.
Besides, United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) will work as election observers during Bangladesh’s upcoming national elections.
But, UN itself will not send observers to monitor Bangladesh election due to its financial calamity.
A reliable source of UN confirmed the matters to banglanews on Saturday.
The source said that Taranco is yet to submit his highly confidential report to UN secretary general Ban-ki-moon. He is now busy in preparing the report.
The report will be kept preserved as internal documents and it will not be published to media or UN website.
On the other hand, it is almost impossible to send election observer to Bangladesh in the tenth national election as all ‘Election Observer Programmes’ have been stopped due to budget crisis.
Following the situation, UNDP with own cost and regional management will work in Bangladesh national election to asses whether upcoming Bangladesh general election in free, fair manner.
