Power generation at Rampal thermal power plant in Bagerhat has been suspended again since Friday (September 16) night due to a technical glitch.

According to a source from the plant, the power generation stopped around 9:30pm.

Deputy general manager of the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) Anwarul Azim could not be reached over the phone for a statement. 

This is not the first time the plant faced operational issues. 

Since its inception on December 17, 2022, the power plant has experienced eight shutdowns in the last nine months.

Earlier on July 16, a turbine fault caused a shutdown and the operations resumed on July 20 when the turbine was fixed.
