Two motorcyclists including an UP chairman were killed in a road accident on the Sylhet-Bholaganj Bangabandhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman Highway in Salutikor area under Gowainghat upazila of the district on early Sunday (September 17).
The accident took place around 12:30 am on Sylhet-Bholaganj Bangabandhu highway near Salutikar area number 10.
The victims were Mohammad Ishaq, 35, chairman of the Jalalabad Union Parishad of the Sylhet sadar upazila and M Hafizur Rahman, 34, a resident of Payra 85, of the Sylhet City Corporation.
Sylhet's Goainghat Upazila Salutikar Investigation Center Incharge (Inspector) Nirmal Chandra Dev confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said, on their way to Sylhet City from Companiganj a truck collided head-on with their motorbike at around 2am, injuring both of them seriously.
Later, they were rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital where an on-duty doctor declared them dead, he said, adding a case was filed in this connection.
