US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas today (October 22) asked Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal whether the government will close the roads in Dhaka during the BNP rally on October 28.
Peter Haas made the query during a courtesy meeting with the home minister at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday (22 October), Kamal told reporters after the meeting.
“I said, the government don't have any such plan. If BNP carry out the program peacefully, we have nothing to say,” the minister added.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is requesting that the political parties do not block the roads and that they should allow people to travel as Dhaka is a city of heavy traffic, said the minister during the meeting.
The Home Minister also said that the law and order forces will try to ensure that the city does not collapse and that there is no violence. Arrangements will be made for abroad goers, medical seekers, he added.
